The Foo Fighters played a surprise gig at the 300 capacity Velvet Jones Club in Santa Barabara, CA last Friday.  They played the entire new album, which is due out in the Spring, and a set of older favorites.  I did an interview with Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins in 2008 and they were throwing around the idea of doing an album of all new stuff live.  Dave talked about recording surprise gigs and releasing the best stuff.  The new album is already done, but I hope they still pursue that idea.  They are a great live band.  Below is a video of a new song called “These Days” from the Velvet Jones show.
