Breaking news from Abercrombie and Fitch: If your 7 year old daughter wants to strut the beach this summer looking more endowed in the chest area than she really is, she will now have to resort back to the old, tried and true “Kleenex” stuffing method.
Wilting under the pressure, and probably tired of everyone looking at them like they are diddlers, company officials announced via Facebook today that they will no longer sell “Padded Push Up” bikini tops for girls as young as seven. The company acknowledges that they are more appropriate for girls who are 12 and older.
Thank god. Can you imagine the problems a bunch of top heavy pre-teens could cause at the local beach this summer? My 11 year old son wouldn’t be able to focus on skim boarding up at Ocean Park.
Abercrombie doesn’t explain on Facebook how an entire company of adults somehow came to the conclusion that padded bikini tops for grammar school kids was an epic idea. It had to pass through more than one person right? I’m all for big breasts, don’t get me wrong, I just tend to think we ought to keep them on the adult ladies, or guys like me who haven’t been on the treadmill lately.
Should there be a law about provocative clothing? Or should there be a law about parents who allow, or encourage, their kids to dress like sluts? Abercrombie wouldn’t make this stuff if some manic beauty queen mom wasn’t buying for their princess.
You can’t control what a private business wants to sell. You can ask the question though about when a company has crossed the line. When you are presenting seven year olds with the opportunity to make their boobs look big, are you not encouraging kiddie porn like behavior? Or at the very least, embarrassing a bunch of normal people just trying to have fun at the beach.

With the announcement from Senate Majority Whip, Dick Durbin, that he will hold Congressional Hearings aimed at protecting the civil rights of Muslims, we get another glaring example of why Democrats insist on wasting taxpayer dollars pandering to a minority in this country.
There are, by most estimates, one to two million Muslims here in America. By comparison, using those same estimates, there are five million Jews, and 159 million Christians. According to a statement announcing the hearings, they come as a result of the “spike in anti-Muslim bigotry and discrimination” that has occurred in the last year.
Has Senator Durbin looked into the bigotry and discrimination the other aforementioned religions have dealt with forever in this country? Where are the Congressional Hearings to ferret out the reason why the Andover Fire Department can’t hang a “Merry Christmas” sign on their station anymore?
“Quran burnings, restrictions on Mosque construction and hate speech” are the things Durbin says necessitate these hearings. Is he joshing us? Unfortunately, in this country, there has long been a tradition of bigotry toward those who’s religion differs from yours. It’s ugly, but it’s true. To waste hours of the Senate’s time to determine that there are those who are biased toward those who worship another religion is silly.
If Congress wants to stand and support a religion, they should start with the majority and work there way down. I imagine there are a bunch of Scientologists who think that Tom Cruise has gotten a bad rap and would love to testify about it. Yes, we must make sure everyone is free to worship whom they choose in this country. We also (some may believe unfortunately) have to insure that those who want to burn a Quran, or restrict mosque construction have the same rights as the small minority in any faith.

Don’t get me wrong.  I’m not making fun of this.  The problems Japan is facing now is testing it’s people’s patient and persevering nature.  This video is a product of Japanese artist Hachiya Kazuhiko trying to explain the problems at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant to his family to help calm their fears.  With the help of some friends the video was produced and made available on- line to help other parents do the same.  Explaining Nuclear Power to an adult not familiar with the concept is hard enough so explaining it to a child must be more challenging.  Especially the possible dangers.  By using poop humor(which is always funny to kids and myself) the message is softened(no pun intended). I also have to add, the Japanese have this uncanny ability to make everything cute which will also help push the message through(that may have been an intended pun)  I hope this video helps and maybe brings a little laughter to some kids who are struggling to deal with this catastrophe and their parents who are doing the same.

You can still help Japan recover from their three disasters here.  And please check out my previous blog about ShelterBox USA.

Well. “Rocks” may not be the proper word for an album dominated by the diminutive instrument.  The album will have the cryptic title of “Ukulele songs” and will be out on May 31st.  One song called “Longing To Belong” will be available digitally on 3/22.  Listen to it here.  It also features a backing band so it looks like the whole album won’t be just Eddie and Uk(Youk…YOUUUUUUK!) or some kind of Ry Cooder type of anthropological study of traditional Hawaiian folk tales.  Many of the songs Eddie has already performed live with Pearl Jam or on his solo tour.  You might already have a few on some bootlegs if you’re a “Ten Club” member.  He does rework “Can’t Keep” from PJ’s “Riot Act” and has Cat Power joining him on one song.

Here’s the Track List for “Ukulele Songs”:

1. Can’t Keep
2. Sleeping by Myself
3. Without You
4. More Than You Know
5. Goodbye
6. Broken Heart
7. Satellite
8. Longing to Belong (first single)
9. Hey Fahkah
10. You’re True
11. Light Today
12. Sleepless Nights (featuring Glen Hansard)
13. Once in Awhile
14. Waving Palms
15. Tonight You Belong to Me (featuring Cat Power)
16. Dream a Little Dream

There will also be a Vedder DVD released on the same day called “Water On The Road”.  Mostly from solo shows in Washington D.C. from 2008.  Check out the “Your True” below:

The best response to the “Alexandra Wallace Asians In The Library Rant” I’ve seen so far. For the record, I’m Chinese and I don’t think she’s a racist. She’s too stupid to be a racist. Although she does have a great set of tits so I’m sure she’ll do well in her future endeavors.
