Thom Yorke seems to be doing his best epileptic Liza Minelli impression for this video.  “Lotus Flower” is a track from the new Radiohead album “King Of Limbs” which has been released digitally a day early.  If you want to download it see Mistress Carrie’s Music Director’s Blog.

This is classic 7o’s.  I’m sure there was more than just beer being passed around the Star Wars set in 1976.  I wonder if there is a cup holder in the X-Wing fighter?  I’m no Rebel Pilot but you shouldn’t be drinking before you take on the biggest space station in the galaxy.  You need a steady hand to get those Proton Torpedoes down that ventilation shaft.  Or, I guess you could just have a few beers and let the force guide you.  You know Porkins had at least a 12 pack for the road and a couple of microwave burritos the R2 Unit could microwave while he got those wings into attack position with a cold one between his fat knees.  I would love to have Princess Leia, the last daughter of Alderaan, serve me a cold tallboy in the slave outfit Jaba The Hut made her wear.

Thanks to Kevin Barbare for showing me this Excellent gif.  My question to you is: What kind of beer is that?  Remember, they filmed most of Star Wars in England.  Whatever it is, it has to be better than that Blue Milk Luke had to drink back home.  If you have any clues post them below.  We have to know the official beer of the Rebel Alliance.

Two Legends enjoying a few laughs.  One created a secret recipe that supposedly contained an ingredient that hooked you like an addict and made you buy his chicken every two weeks.(Totally unsubstantiated and actually taken from the movie “So I Married An Ax Murderer”).  Later his company would create, arguably, the greatest sandwich in the history of food that is technically not a sandwich because it does not include bread.  The other took a girl’s name and has entertained fans for more than 30 years by chopping his own head off with a guillotine and doing a provocative routine with a giant snake. He now is going to be inducted into the Rock-N Roll Hall Of Fame.  They both have a reputation for not being kind to chickens.  This epic photo needs an epic caption.  Post yours in the comment section below.  I’ll start: “Billion Dollar Chicken Killers”

According to the NY daily News:

“UK rock band Radiohead announced Monday that its newest album, “The King of Limbs,” will be released as a digital download on Saturday, Feb 19.

The band’s website featured a message to fans which readd “Thank You For Waiting” and offered a link where the new album is available for pre-order.

The digital version, in MP3 or WAV formats, costs $9 and $14, respectively, and can be “pre-ordered now and downloaded on Saturday” according to the site.

Fans of Radiohead’s 2007 digital release “In Rainbows,” a full-length album that was available for download at whatever price the user decided to pay, may be dissapointed to learn of the new fixed-price system.

However, moving away from the digital-only arena, the band is also offering what they have dubbed “the world’s first Newspaper Album,” which includes the record on one CD as well as two 10″ vinyl records.

Also packaged with the Newspaper Album is “Many large sheets of artwork” and “625 tiny pieces of artwork” according to the website.

Those willing to shell out the $48 for The Newspaper version will also be able to download the digital album in .mp3 format before physical records ship on Monday May 9.  For $53 you can buy the Newspaper Album with “full CD quality uncompressed” WAV file downloads.”

Are you going to buy King of Limbs? Let me know…

Here’s the press release that came out today with all of the details:

FOO FIGHTERS: WASTING LIGHT
TRACKLISTING REVEALED FOR SEVENTH STUDIO ALBUM OUT APRIL 12 ON ROSWELL/RCA

FIRST SINGLE “ROPE” AVAILABLE MARCH 1
FF FANS GIFTED WITH SPECIALLY DEDICATED VALENTINE AT whitelimo.foofighters.com

The title and track listing of Foo Fighters’ upcoming seventh full length studio album has been revealed. Wasting Light will be released April 12 by Roswell/RCA and will consist of the following tracks:

Bridge Burning
Rope
Dear Rosemary
White Limo
Arlandria
These Days
Back & Forth
A Matter Of Time
Miss The Misery
I Should Have Known
Walk

First single “Rope” will be available beginning March 1 both as a digital single and as an instant grat with the iTunes pre-order of Wasting Light.

Produced by Butch Vig and mixed by Alan Moulder, Wasting Light was recorded entirely on analog tape in the garage of Grohl’s home in California’s San Fernando Valley. The no computers/no software back to basics approach has resulted in arguably the strongest and most cohesive effort of the band’s 15-year-plus career: From first single “Rope” to the frenetic opener “Bridge Burning” to the beautifully bipolar “These Days” to stunning guest spots from Bob Mould (“Dear Rosemary”) and Krist Novoselic (“I Should Have Known”), Wasting Light is a singular triumph: a band that’s headlined arenas, stadiums and festivals the world over stripping itself down to the bare essentials and coming up with a world class band’s finest hour.

Concurrent with the album’s release, Exclusive Media Group’s documentary division Spitfire Pictures are producing a feature documentary about the Foo Fighters directed by Academy Award winner James Moll (The Last Days, Running The Sahara).  Co-produced and co-financed by Exclusive Media Group and RCA Records, Moll’s documentary chronicles the entire history of the Foo Fighters, from the cassette demos Grohl recorded during his tenure as Nirvana’s drummer through their ascent to their Grammy-winning, multi-platinum, arena and stadium headlining status as one of the biggest rock bands on the planet.   This chronicling of the Foo Fighters’ triumphs and tragedies  culminates in an in-depth behind the scenes perspective on the making of the new album: A process in which the band pushed itself forward by returning to its roots and recording in Grohl’s garage completely on analog tape.

So the Foo Fighters have their still UNTITLED album set for release on April 12th.

I just heard the first single ROPE, and all of the retro equipment and recording techniques definitley came through in the music. It’s got a very Zeppelin feel to it. I really liked it, and I think you will too. We won’t have the new song to play until next week. I tried to steal a copy, but they caught me. :(

In the mean time, the Foo’s have released a new song and video on you tube. It features Lemmy from Motorhead. This isn’t the first single, just something cool to check out until ROPE comes out next week.

Check out White Limo

This was THE best part of last night’s Grammy Awards.  CBS reporter Serena Branson’s tribute to Jodie Foster’s performance in “Nell”.  She blamed it on a delay in her earpiece.  I think she was sending secret messages to Bieber’s alien controllers…..or she was all pilled up and had some wine.

The Boston Globe this week revealed some of what is contained in Deval Patrick’s forthcoming biography, called “A Reason to Believe”.  I have been thinking about some potential alternate titles that I think are more appropriate:

-“A Reason to Leave”  :  perfect for those considering picking up their worldly possessions and moving somewhere like New Hampshire where you aren’t taxed into oblivion

“A Ransom if you’re Green” :  the Governor explains why the state was willing to pony up millions of dollars for Evergreen Solar, only to have them bail on our state

“Another Trick up my Sleeve” :  this applies to the new “tax” on water and juice bottles and whatever other “fees” are coming this year so he doesn’t have to actually cut the budget

-“A Raisin to Eat” :  if things keep going the way they have economically in this state under Deval, this is all some residents will have left for dinner

Perhaps you may have a title that you feel is more appropriate.  I’m gonna wait until the paperback comes out so I save a few bucks for tax time.
